Prudence Petitpas is a humorous series about an old lady, Prudence Petitpas, who lives in the fictional village Moucheron. Much like Miss Marple she investigates crimes that the police can't solve.

Prudence MacIntyre, the 'New York home tips' TV show presenter, is sent on holiday, by studio boss Jeffrey Symcox, to a secluded lodge in Tassajero, Wyoming. The lodge was built on the last remnant of Indian land preserved by the Andrews family. Her celebrity status and sassy charm help her quickly get acquainted with local notables, including French heir Jean Phillipe Andrews, his land trust lawyer Doug Craig and police detective Eddie Duncan. Pru is with lodge caretaker Ruth Vigil when she discovers her estranged son JR is missing from his home after leaving a message. Pru finds blood, and although it's not JR's, insists he must have been murdered. After her research assistant, a computer whiz with a minor criminal record, joins her, they soon get in danger snooping ahead of the incredulous authorities to discover several linked crimes.

Versatile technician Nigel and daughter Annie MacIntyre, officially her producer, are the only people classy Prudence McCoy lets intervene in the traditional show on household tips she presents, third generation. But the TV station was bought by a tycoon, who sends his son Michael Merchant to modernize the show, assisted by studio executive Jack Jameson, Prue's ex. That includes a makeover and, even worse, co-host Angelica Adams, an immature bikini weather program presenter, who looks up to 'maternal' Prue. Her counter-move is no less daring.

Prudence, a young society woman and aviatrix, is forbidden to continue flying by her fiancé Hewitt and her father. In defiance, she stages her own kidnapping, but Hewitt discovers the ruse and arranges a real abduction to teach her a lesson. His plan backfires, and the kidnappers rob him and capture Prudence. In order to save herself, Prudence pretends to join the gang.

The driver is a brilliant theorist and cultural analyst who's been driven close to insanity by the vicious cycles of daily life and their eternal repetition. He's against all kind of spontaneity and knows all his tautological essays by heart. He torments his passenger by ceaselessly describing them to him, without a trace of compassion. The passenger, on the other hand, is a completely normal young man, unsure of his place in the world, preoccupied with a failed love-affair. The film investigates a number of difficult topics and complicated theories while it tells the simple story about the driver's and the passenger's last trip together.
